Safari & Wildlife Photography Tours in Kenya

Professional photographers join your safari to document every sighting, so you can stay in the moment

Capture the Untamed Beauty of Kenya’s Wildlife

Kenya is one of the world’s greatest wildlife destinations — home to the Big Five, the Great Migration, over 1,100 bird species, and landscapes that take your breath away. Joe Photography & Safaris offers expert-guided photography safaris that put you in the perfect position to capture extraordinary wildlife images, whether you’re shooting with a professional DSLR or your smartphone.

Unlike standard safari tours that rush between parks, our photo safaris are designed specifically for photographers. We spend longer at sightings, position the vehicle for optimal light and composition, visit locations during golden hour, and our guides understand animal behaviour well enough to anticipate action before it happens.

Photography Safari Experiences

  • Big Five Photo Safaris — Dedicated multi-day tours focused on finding and photographing Africa’s most iconic animals: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. Extended time at sightings allows you to capture behaviour, interaction, and stunning portraits
  • Great Migration Experience — Witness and photograph the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle. Millions of wildebeest and zebra crossing the Mara River, predator-prey drama, and vast herds stretching to the horizon. Best experienced July through October
  • Bird Photography Safaris — Kenya’s incredible avian diversity includes flamingos at Lake Nakuru, fish eagles at Lake Naivasha, lilac-breasted rollers in the Mara, and hundreds of species in Kakamega Forest and Tsavo
  • Night & Dawn Game Drives — Exclusive early morning and evening game drives when wildlife is most active. Golden hour light creates magical photographic conditions, and night drives reveal nocturnal species rarely seen by day
  • Photography Workshops in the Wild — Learn wildlife photography techniques in the field from experienced photographers. Covering camera settings, composition, animal behaviour prediction, and post-processing workflow
  • Conservation & Behind-the-Scenes — Special access visits to conservation projects, wildlife sanctuaries, and research stations. Document conservation efforts and meet the people protecting Kenya’s wildlife

A typical 4-5 day safari yields 150-400 professionally edited images, curated from thousands of frames. Every image is colour-graded and delivered in full resolution via a private online gallery with printing rights included — no watermarks, no per-image fees.

For couples and small families, yes — they shoot from your vehicle while staying unobtrusive. For groups of five or more we recommend a second vehicle so the photographer can position independently for angles of your vehicle at sightings. Both options are quoted clearly upfront.

Yes. Our highlight-film package adds 3-5 minutes of edited, music-scored video combining wildlife action, drone aerials (where permitted), and your family's moments. Full photo-plus-video coverage requires the two-shooter option on most itineraries.

A same-week preview of 20-30 highlights arrives while you're often still travelling — perfect for sharing. The complete edited gallery follows within 7-10 days, and printed albums within three weeks of your final selection.
