The Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most pristine wilderness areas. Unlike any other safari destination, the Okavango combines water-based and land-based game viewing in a constantly shifting mosaic of channels, islands, and floodplains.

Glide silently through crystal-clear channels in a traditional mokoro (dugout canoe), walk on palm-fringed islands among elephants and buffalo, and take motorboat excursions to spot hippos, crocodiles, and the rare Pel’s fishing owl. The delta’s seasonal flooding (June-September) transforms the landscape, attracting incredible concentrations of wildlife.

Botswana’s high-value, low-impact tourism philosophy means exclusive, uncrowded experiences in private concessions with some of Africa’s finest camps.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Arrive Maun, Fly to Delta Camp

Fly into Maun, Botswana's safari gateway. Board a light aircraft for a scenic 30-minute flight over the delta — your first view of the labyrinth of channels, lagoons, and islands below. Land at your luxury camp's airstrip. Afternoon mokoro excursion through the papyrus-lined channels.

2

Water & Land Activities

Morning motorboat excursion into deeper channels, searching for hippo pods, sitatunga antelope, and African fish eagles. Return for brunch. Afternoon guided walking safari on an island — track elephant, buffalo, and giraffe on foot with an experienced Botswana guide.

3

Full Delta Exploration

A full day in the delta. Morning game drive in the concession area, then a mokoro excursion to a remote island for a bush picnic lunch. Afternoon fishing for bream and tigerfish (catch and release). Sundowner drinks as the sun sets over the floodplains.

4

Game Drives & Night Safari

Early morning game drive focusing on predators — the delta is home to lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, and hyena. Afternoon at leisure in camp. After dinner, a spotlight night drive reveals nocturnal species: aardvark, porcupine, genet, and African wild cat.

5

Departure

Final morning activity — mokoro or walking safari. Fly back to Maun for your onward connection.
