An unforgettable eight-day trekking adventure into Ethiopia’s Simien Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of exceptional natural beauty. Trek through dramatic escarpments, spot endemic wildlife including Gelada baboons and Walia ibex, and summit Ras Dashen at 4,543 meters — Ethiopia’s highest peak.

The route passes through diverse landscapes from heath forests to alpine meadows, with camping at elevations between 2,750m and 4,000m. This is a challenging but deeply rewarding trek for adventurous spirits.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Addis Ababa to Gondar

Fly to Gondar. Afternoon exploring the Royal Enclosure, King Fasildas' Bath, and Debre Berhan Selassie Church.

Gondar to Sankaber Camp

Drive into Simien Mountains National Park. Afternoon hike spotting Gelada baboons in their natural habitat. Overnight at Sankaber Camp.

Sankaber to Geech Camp

Full trekking day through stunning landscapes. Spot Walia ibex, klipspringers, giant Lobelia plants, and diverse birdlife. Pass through local villages.

Geech Camp — Imet Gogo Excursion

Trek to Imet Gogo viewpoint offering spectacular panoramic views. Search for Walia ibex, Lanner falcon, and Simien wolf.

Geech to Chenek Camp

Trek through heath forests, mountain valleys, and broad fields. Reach 4,000m elevation before descending to Chenek Camp (3,600m).

Summit Ras Dashen (4,543m)

Summit day climbing Ethiopia's highest peak at 4,543 meters. Wildlife viewing opportunities throughout. Overnight at Ambiko.

Descent to Chenek

Descend to 2,750m. Lunch in Chirolaba village, hike to Buahit Pass en route back to Chenek Camp.

Return to Addis Ababa

Drive out of the park and fly back to Addis Ababa for onward travel.
