Day-by-Day Itinerary
Moshi to Rongai Gate to Simba Camp
Drive to Rongai Gate on the northern side. Trek through cultivated fields into pine forest to Simba Camp (2,625m).
Simba Camp to Second Cave
Continue through heather zone with views of Kenya and Kibo peak. Reach Second Cave Camp (3,450m).
Second Cave to Kikelelwa Camp
Traverse the base of Mawenzi peak. Camp at Kikelelwa (3,600m) with stunning views.
Kikelelwa to Mawenzi Tarn
Acclimatization day. Ascend to Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m) at the base of the dramatic Mawenzi peak.
Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut
Cross the lunar-like saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Reach Kibo Hut (4,750m). Rest before summit night.
Summit Night — Uhuru Peak
Midnight departure. Ascend to Gilman's Point, then Stella Point, and finally Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Horombo Hut.
Horombo to Marangu Gate to Moshi
Final descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate. Certificate ceremony and transfer to Moshi.
