Sleep in the Wild, Wake to Lion Roars
Nothing connects you to Africa like canvas. On a Tour Africa camping safari, the day ends around a campfire under a sky thick with stars, and the night soundtrack is hyena whoops and distant lion roars. It is the original safari experience — raw, immediate, and surprisingly affordable.
Our camping safaris run throughout Kenya’s great parks — the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo, Lake Nakuru, and Samburu — using established campsites inside or beside the reserves, so you are on the animals’ doorstep the moment the gates open.
Two Ways to Camp
- Full-Service Camping — Our crew travels ahead to pitch your tents, inflate the mattresses, and cook three hot meals a day. You arrive to a ready camp and a hot dinner — all you carry is your camera
- Adventure Camping — Pitch in and help with camp life for our most budget-friendly option, popular with backpackers, students, and overlanders
What Camp Life Is Like
Expect spacious dome tents with proper mattresses, shared ablution blocks with hot showers at most sites, hearty camp cooking (fresh fruit, stews, chapati, and the legendary safari breakfast), and evenings of storytelling around the fire with your guide. Campsites are chosen for safety, shade, and proximity to the best game-viewing areas.
Why Choose a Camping Safari
Camping cuts accommodation costs dramatically, which means more of your budget goes toward time in the parks — often an extra day or two compared to lodge-based safaris at the same price. It also keeps you closer to the wilderness: no walls, no crowds, just the bush. Many guests who can afford lodges choose canvas anyway, purely for the experience.
Combine and Customise
Mix camping nights with a lodge or tented camp finale, add a Maasai village visit, or extend into Tanzania. Group departures run weekly in high season; private camping safaris run any date you choose. Get in touch for departure dates and a full kit list.
