Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park covers 2,850 square kilometres in northern Tanzania, named after the Tarangire River that runs through it. During the dry season (June-November), the river becomes one of the few water sources in the region, attracting large concentrations of wildlife.

The park is famous for its giant baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, and hosts one of the highest densities of elephants in Tanzania — herds of up to 300 individuals are not uncommon. The swamps and river also attract over 550 bird species.
