Elewana Sand River Masai Mara sits on the banks of the Sand River in the southern reaches of the Masai Mara National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border. This is one of the most remote and pristine corners of the Mara — far from the popular northern areas and their higher vehicle concentrations.
Sixteen luxury tents are inspired by the golden age of safari, with campaign furniture, canvas walls, bucket showers, and brass fittings. Despite the vintage aesthetic, modern comforts are discreetly integrated — hot running water, comfortable beds, and elegant en-suite bathrooms.
The camp’s location on the Sand River makes it ideal for witnessing the Great Migration, as huge herds funnel through this area between July and October. The surrounding plains are home to resident prides of lion, large herds of elephant, and Kenya’s highest density of cheetahs.
