Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park is a small but beautiful park located just 25 kilometres from the town of Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania. Despite its compact 552 square kilometre size, it encompasses an astounding variety of habitats and landscapes — from the alkaline Momella Lakes to montane forest to the dramatic Ngurdoto Crater.

Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest peak at 4,566 metres, dominates the park. Climbing Mount Meru is an excellent acclimatization trek before tackling Kilimanjaro, or a rewarding adventure in its own right, taking 3–4 days via the Momella Route.

The park is excellent for walking safaris, canoeing on the Momella Lakes, and observing black-and-white colobus monkeys, giraffes, and over 400 bird species at close range.
