Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda covers 1,978 square kilometres of diverse habitats including savannah, tropical forest, wetlands, and crater lakes. The park straddles the equator and lies between Lake Edward and Lake George, connected by the 32-kilometre Kazinga Channel.

A boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel is one of Uganda’s iconic experiences, offering close encounters with massive concentrations of hippos, elephants, and buffalo along the banks. The Ishasha sector in the south is famous for its tree-climbing lions that lounge in fig trees.

The park also harbours chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge, over 600 bird species, and the volcanic Explosion Craters driving area with panoramic views across the western Rift Valley.
